@Me.Wonderful: life isn’t quite that simple dear. People don’t pose a threat because they want to move and work, nobody is saying that. If you get your talking points from CNN, then you believe the wrong thing about libertarians like me and right-wingers in general. Please do some research before spouting such non-sense.

All of us believe our own doctors, none of us are refusing blood transfusion based on Bible verses. There are questions to be raised, the fact that questions aren’t allowed on some topics as you seem to suggest, we should just accept what the ~~Watchtower~~ CDC (which is a political organization, not a scientific one) tells us, hits a raw nerve with many of us.

We should be allowed to do our own risk assessments, we should be allowed to make decisions on our own health, we should be allowed to see the data.

The King of the North and the South, who are they now?

i know several wit-lesses that to date are researching these topics.. however i haven't heard much from any publications recently about it, i think the latest refresh was ~10 years ago.

since then the power of the us has severely diminished (or at least the rhetorics about it has), russia is a small potato in modern era, the eu is a cowardly dog in the eyes of everyone and we have the rise of china which is as far as military might is concerned, a paper tiger.. we also have the rise of islam, especially since the end of the nato nation-building effort in afghanistan which is now in power in most of the middle east and africa, as well as regions of asia and growing strong in europe.. does anyone have noooo light about these developments.

The problem with Russia is that they are about as powerful as Iran, after the USSR collapsed they lost most of the geographical benefits and most of their power as half their stuff was abandoned in new countries.

China can rattle the cage but will get a run for its money in a war from a coalition between India, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

I think the watchtower simply no longer has a clue about international issues and chooses to ignore these once-important (to them) topics.

it's nice to meet you all.

i have been awake since i was a child and i am thinking about leaving jehovahs witnesses soon.

i am looking for some new friends because i know i will lose the ones i have.. my question is, how did your spouse react when you left?

There are lots of topics here on the matter of spouses. It seems that if your husband loves you and he’s not super-controlling or putting much effort being high up in the organization, you have a better chance, especially as a woman, to leave together.

I would slowly poke and see what he believes if he is not already outspoken about it. You can sow some doubts slowly and try to leave together. There is a chance you may lose him too, in that case you probably end up in a divorce proceeding, very rarely do JWs accept such changes, as a woman, you are in luck as custody and decision making generally tends to go in favor of females. That doesn’t mean he won’t be able to take the kids to meetings, but for most matters, you will be in charge.

It’s not an easy road. You may lose everything, but it is worth it.

Since then the power of the US has severely diminished (or at least the rhetorics about it has), Russia is a small potato in modern era, the EU is a cowardly dog in the eyes of everyone and we have the rise of China which is as far as military might is concerned, a paper tiger.

We also have the rise of Islam, especially since the end of the NATO nation-building effort in Afghanistan which is now in power in most of the Middle East and Africa, as well as regions of Asia and growing strong in Europe.

Does anyone have noooo light about these developments. Is Islam the King of the South? Is China the King of the North? What does Daniel have to say about any of this?

i'd appreciate getting some opinions about a decision i will shortly have to make.. i am moving soon and have the choice of two different apartments in two different towns.

i am hoping this move will be one of the last that i have to make - i have moved frequently in my life - at least for a long, long while.. the apartment i like the least is in a town and a location that i love due to my history with, and connection to the area.

the apartment i love is in a town and location i am not as crazy about, but it is still a really nice area.

Personally, I'd be choosing the place I love, because that's where you'll be spending most of your time. Areas change and we often have rose colored glasses when it comes to history. Just because it was great when you grew up, doesn't mean it was actually great, nor that it remained great.

I'd be looking at more objective measures such as commute, crime rates and school quality over nostalgia. I personally stay as much away from the inner cities as possible.

This kind of undercuts the notion that only rabid right wing religious nut jobs are to blame. Perhaps it has more to do with the insane messaging from the governments that want to maintain control by unscientific lockdowns and mask mandates.

As long as COVID is around, there is a crisis, and that allows you to implement martial law, it allows you to ignore Supreme Court decisions, allows you to suppress all protest, it gives some obscure, unknown and unelected bureaucrats like Fauci space on Time magazine front pages and power to implement unconstitutional immigration law, unconstitutional takings from landlords, unconstitutional takings from tax payers. And this is happening across the world, the EU is very unhappy that the UK is opening up, Australia is locking down with zero evidence, and DeBlasio wants to resegregate the city by race.

If there were a message that if the vaccines are successful, the crisis is overcome, there would be no more appetite to oppression.

I like the freedom to finally be able to talk about politics, I kept mostly silent on politics even after I left for some years, holding to some form of pacifism, then I started to understand that this is really bad.

Politics is something you can't do in the Borg, so it should be allowed here. It's always interesting to hear left-wingers say something shouldn't be allowed or moved out of sight, as if the conversation should be controlled and things that make them feel cognitive dissonance offend them.

There are plenty of political topics due to the current political climate. The world is sitting on a powder keg of political correctness while the left are taking over major institutions and implementing disastrous policy. This has been the case ever since 2012 when Obama promised "peace and security" then proceeded to shit all over every institution and freedom.

These forums are the few places where people are allowed to still speak, if you talk about stuff like this on YouTube or FaceBook you literally get banned, some people have gotten shunned or fired from their jobs if their family or work friends find out they voted Republican. People start to notice and wake up to the cult of the left with its political correctness.

Given most of us came from a cult not too long ago, the cult of political correctness doesn't feel too attractive, hence you'll see most of us on a center-right position instead of a left-wing position.

Logical Fallacy… can I get some help here?

dr. leanna wen is currently spreading the fallacy that unvaccinated persons should have vaccines mandated because they are like drunk drivers… they have the right to be drunk at home she says, but wanting to be part of society at large without being vaccinated is like driving drunk and putting others at risk.

besides ignoring the science proving that persons who have had sars cov-2 have natural immunity that equals or exceeds anything that could be imparted from the mrna shot, without the side effects or need for boosters, ( sorry big pharma, you’ll be losing $$$ ) this illustration just smacks of illogical reasoning.

it reminds me of the borg comparing getting baptized to getting your driver’s license.

We can all see what the best course of action was in the aftermath. Protect the elderly, tell them they should really stay away from large crowds while you build up natural immunity quickly amongst the younger ones that aren’t affected by cases of death so it doesn’t have time to mutate.

As we’ve seen in many places, the virus will burn out amongst the young in a matter of months, extending that time gives it more time to mutate which is what mask mandates and lockdowns have done.

The elderly aren’t afraid of death. They’d rather see their grandchildren than die alone isolated for years on end.

The focus on number of cases rather than deaths was the biggest factor and solely to blame on the media which did it to protect their benefactors. The focus on preventing spread rather than preventing mutation and death is the primary reason though.

Electric Vehicles ... or Auto Unions?

apparently biden had an electric vehicle summit earlier this week.. tell me the first name that comes to mind when it comes to electric vehicles?.

they have practically defined the segment after all.. but which company wasn't invited to biden's electric vehicle summit?.

I remember when Musk promised he would have an affordable electric family sedan (under 35k) within 3-5 years after he launched the Roadster.

That is now more than a decade ago.

VW made similar promises, as did Toyota when they made the Prius and Nissan when they started their Hybrid program.

The EU did the same in the 50s and 60s, they started raising taxes on gas in order to force people into public transportation, to get from point a to point b in Europe is insanely expensive now. The US is more spread out than Europe.

China has no feasible electric vehicles, not for short or long haul. What you see is propaganda, refreshing things like old electric trolley busses or souping up golf carts and calling it new. They’ve been around since the 1940s, they never caught on for a reason.

Making an electric vehicle isn’t hard, some wheels a motor and a battery. Making it useful, that’s an entirely different thing.
